Project Mural STL is a collaborative art project open to teens in Ferguson and surrounding communities. The event will take place at the Ferguson Youth Initiative Backbay located at 110 Church Street in Ferguson, Missouri. The mural will be painted over the course of 3 weekends during October: Saturday, October 4th from 12-3 pm, Saturday October 11th from 12-3 pm, and the final session on Saturday, October 18th from 12-3 pm.
Participants can self express with bold colors to illustrate a harmonious, colorful abstract mural. Each of the seven panels will feature a letter that together will spell “ONE LOVE”. This event is open to all teens between the ages of 13 to19; experienced artists and those new to painting.
Project Mural STL was initiated by St. Louis artist and Florissant native Annie Martineau in collaboration with the Ferguson Youth Initiative, Northern Arts Council and the Adolescent Resource Center as a mode of self-expression for area youth. It further wishes to encourage a long-term approach to community-building and to underscore the importance of art as an invaluable voice for change and progress for the next generation.
Project materials will be generously provided courtesy of Grove Properties LLC. Snacks will be provided courtesy of Keebler.
