FYI’s Spot 394

Spot 394

Spot 394 is a pop-up youth center occurring three times a year. It is an event for teens 13-18 years old. Through collaboration with the City of Ferguson and regional agencies such as the Emerson YMCA and the Ferguson-Florissant School District, Spot 394 has been hosted in multiple facilities throughout the community. Each facility is transformed into a youth center where young people can play games, listen to music, and engage in other youth-centric activities. The event takes place on Friday evenings. Ferguson youth and youth attending Ferguson-based Schools are welcome to attend and can be bring one visitor.

Spot 394 on March 7th, 2013 – Thanks to the 100+ teens who attended the Spot 394 on Friday, March 7th at McCluer South-Berkeley High School. We hope you had a great time!

Spot 394 on February 23rd, 2013 – This Spot 394 took place at the Emerson Family YMCA.  40 middle school and high school teens showed up and had a great time.  Bouncing basketballs, Wii stations, ping pong and air hockey filled the air as well as music from the dance room and water splashing from the pool.  Pizza, chicken, and soda were downstairs for all to enjoy while movies were playing.  Thanks to the Emerson Family YMCA for opening their facility, thanks to all of the wonderful businesses donating food and door prizes, and a huge thanks to all of the volunteers for Supporting Young People at this event.  For pictures from the event, click here.

Spot 394 on February 23rd, 2013 – This Spot 394 took place at the Emerson Family YMCA.  56 middle school and high school teens showed up on a cold Saturday evening.  They came looking for fun and fun was had on the basketball and volleyball courts, in the music lounge, on the ping pong and air hockey tables and at the Wii stations.  They also enjoyed being able to swim in the YMCA’s indoor pool.  Downstairs was the food station .. aromas of pizza and chicken wings filled the air which were quickly replaced with the sounds of attendees enjoying the snacks while watching movies.  Thanks to the Emerson Family YMCA for opening their facility, thanks to all of the wonderful businesses donating food and door prizes, and a huge thanks to all of the volunteers for Supporting Young People at this event.  For pictures from the event, click here.

Spot 394 on October 12th, 2012 – The first FYI Spot 394 took place on October 12, 2012 at Johnson Wabash Elementary.  Over 50 teens showed up and enjoyed various activities including Wii, basketball, cards and board games.  Music was filling the room while the pizza and soda were being consumed.  Smiles were in abundance with everyone staying to the last minute to get the final point … either in basketball or on Wii. All left with a better idea of Spot 394 … and left their ideas on what they would like to see at the next one. For pictures from the event, click here.
